Where we operate

The activities of Arriva are divided into three business units: UK Bus, UK Trains and Europe, with operations in the Czech Republic, Croatia, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and the United Kingdom, and a rolling stock leasing company in Romania.

UK Bus

We are the third-largest provider of bus services in regional markets (outside London) with rural, urban and inter-urban services.

We have 13,100 colleagues and operate 3,856 buses. We are one of the market leaders in London, where we operate around 17% of all bus services. We were the first company to operate an all-electric bus route and continue to invest in electrification. We were also one of the first companies to introduce digital demand-responsive transport services to the UK.

UK Trains

We operate under a range of contract types across Britain’s rail network, including national rail contracts, a concessionary contract and open access. Alongside passenger operations, Arriva also delivers maintenance and construction of rail infrastructure, provides essential rolling stock servicing through Arriva Train Care and RTS Infrastructure, delivers rail replacement services via Arriva Road Transport Solutions, and owns the digital smart ticketing platform, Arriva Customer Engine (ACE).

We have 5,270 colleagues and 284 trains. We also manage 117 stations.

Having first entered the market in 2000, we now serve around 9% of Britain’s rail network by total revenue, with our portfolio spanning  light rail, commuter, regional and long-distance services, operating across the country.
